State Hate Update: Fly-Over Negotiations

So...

I received a phone call from a Dean at the Corn Field College of Law that I have been loving from afar for a few months knowing that non-resident tuition is too much for me to handle. I told her my concerns about non-resident tuition and she said she would relay them for me. I just followed up with a negotiation letter explaining the Dean's Scholarship to the Wheat Field School of Law (that is admittedly not as sparkly but still...) I'm crossing various appendages hoping they can give me a little to work with because I really like what the school has to offer. Also, I just got word that I am getting some kind of scholarship from Beautiful Mountain Law School and was told "please do not put down a seat deposit at another school before considering our offer." Yay! So if those two financial situations don't work out I will be happily situated in a Midwestern college town (in the middle of a wheat field) hustling my ass off.

I am not choosing to attend the major market school in my state. After running calculations on several different financial scenarios, it became clear that my student loans would creep over the 150k mark because of increased housing and childcare costs. The opportunities offered by the school are not worth that kind of debt and our quality of life would be severely impacted.
